The Elementary Truths of the Faith
Introduction

Session One: Basic Christianity
Noting that the term "Christian" means different things to different people, especially in an American society with over 500 different denominations, in this lesson, Gregory Allen attempts to problematize our own understanding of the term and introduce new ways of referencing the status of the believer. He also questions some of the origins of the interpretation "disciple=Christian=saved," which has been a foundational tenet of the teachings of many congregation within the International Churches of Christ.
In this lesson, Wade Redcross draws from 1 Corinthians to expound on what seems to be Paul's understanding of the four categories that men and women fall into as it relates to the fellowship of believers. He describes each of these categories with wisdom and insight, and offers both a detailed analysis and diagrams in order to help us determine for ourselves which category we find ourselves whether we consider ourselves to be Christians or not.
If Christianity truly marks a spiritual distinction for a believer and not just a political or social affiliation, then it stands to reason that this transition must occur at a specific point in one's life. But does it occur in a specific way? In this lesson, Gregory Allen examines some of the terms that the Bible uses to characterize believers as a possible means to gain more understanding regarding the process and experience of becoming a true Biblical Christian.
